Major Public Consultation Launched to Shape the Future of Whetstone Pastures Garden Village
I am contacting you to ask for your parish council's help in publicising the latest public consultation on the project.
The public consultation launches today (8 September) and gives local people across south Leicestershire the chance to shape proposals for Whetstone Pastures Garden Village, a long-term vision for a sustainable and vibrant new community.
The vision for Whetstone Pastures is a Garden Community with residents' health and wellbeing at its heart, and to create a healthy, strong and connected community through the design of its infrastructure, streetscape, built environment, community spaces, open spaces, community farming, creative spaces and net zero commitments.
Promoted by Tritax Big Box Developments, the plans set out ambitions to deliver thousands of new homes, jobs, and green infrastructure, creating a community future generations can be proud to call home.
The Concept Framework Plan, now open for public feedback, has been informed by in depth masterplanning with Blaby District Council, Homes England, and Design Midlands, alongside a series of technical studies into the site's opportunities and constraints.
Sustainability is at the heart of the vision, ensuring future residents will have access to the services, spaces, and infrastructure they need to lead healthy, connected, and environmentally responsible lives.
Have Your Say Local people are invited to share their views through a series of consultation events, workshops, and online activities:

• Willoughby Waterleys Village Hall – Friday 26th September, 5:30pm–8:00pm
• Countesthorpe Village Hall – Saturday 27th September, 9:30am–12:30pm

The consultation runs from 8 September – 20 October 2025.
Whilst we have issued over 9,500 resident notices (enclosed) across South Leicestershire via Royal Mail and are running regular print and digital media adverts with local partners, we are also keen to broaden the consultation to as many people as possible.
We are asking parish councils, local health providers, sports clubs and community organisations across South Leicestershire to help spread the word about the consultation through their networks, including social media channels.
Whetstone Pastures Garden Village has a presence across various social media channels, so please do follow us on the social media handles at the top of this letter, and highlight the latest consultation to your followers.
I have also enclosed a poster advertising the consultation, which I would be grateful if you would be kind enough to display on noticeboards or at your premises to encourage people to view the plans and provide their feedback.
